Chartered Building Companies and Chartered Building Consultancies (CBC)

CBCs are an important part of the CIOB. Membership of Chartered Building Companies and Chartered Building Consultancies enables organisations of any size to demonstrate a commitment to professionalism and best practice. CBCs take membership of the CIOB into a business perspective, and with the CBCs, it is the organisation that is the member.

CBCs must sign up to a Code of Conduct, undertaking to deliver a quality of service with integrity, and an overriding concern for clients’ needs.  the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) will only grant CBC membership to businesses or organisations managed by a board of directors, or partners, who are themselves Chartered professionals, governed by the ethics of their professional institute.

As a CBC your organisation will be committed to the training and development of staff at all levels.  This commitment will be driven by a passion from senior management to not only raise and maintain standards within the organisation, but to be a part of raising competence and professionalism throughout the construction industry.

For the CBC member:

CBC membership is a powerful marketing tool.  You will be able to call your business a Chartered Building Company or Chartered Building Consultancy.  The CBC logo is available exclusively to members and will serve you as a prestige symbol of excellence and expertise, which readily distinguishes you.  A range of other benefits include events around the country, a ‘find a builder/consultancy’ feature on the CBC web pages, that can link your dedicated page to your own wider website, and exclusive magazine four times a year.

CBCs are marketed towards a recognition of excellence, reflecting their strict membership criteria.
