Board Room Briefing March 2012
from CBC Chairman Mike Smith MCIOB
I am delighted to report that my board is continuing to achieve what I set out, when I took over.
The CBC Membership has increased by 14% over the last 12 months, in spite of the dire economy. We believe that we are starting to add value to your membership. We are getting much feedback of notice and recognition. CIOB Training Partnerships, being managed by Hilary Brown are a growing great vehicle for us to sell the concept of CBC membership to those firms investing in training, getting their staff towards corporate membership.
Eddie Tuttle, CIOB Public Affairs Manager (parliamentary lobbyist!) works with our board and he brings us lots of positives. Also, CBC Deputy Chair John Pile is currently preparing relevant comment on the Green Deal, and BIM for our membership, plus feeding back CBC comment to Eddie Tuttle for his various committee involvements up to parliamentary level.
A CBC suite of consultancy documents is now available by contacting the CBC Administrator. We are very grateful to board member Ian McDonald for his hard work in producing this. To accompany this, Ian is currently working on a suite of contractors documents.
Rob Hooker continues to head up the CBC board’s marketing group, and from them site boards and other items are now available (see marketing toolkit on website). Rob continues to review all our publicity possibilities, subject to available resources.
CBC Rules and Terms of Reference have been reviewed and will be made available shortly to all existing members.
I remain indebted to each CBC board member for their time given, and for their organisations for allowing this. They are a devoted group and thanks to them we move forward. Several of them also sit as CBC representatives on other CIOB boards.
The CBC Manager Jess Deacon and his invaluable assistant Sarah Tierney, should be contacted at any time if current or potential CBC members have anything to ask.
